Meet the D-tox Team - Neil

Neil is one of our service drivers who has been with D-tox since September 2021. Completely new to the business of portable sanitation, Neil had previously been a travel agent for 12 years, he explained:

“Travel has always been a big passion of mine. I was a far east specialist and I’ve visited so many countries, Vietnam, India, Bali and Singapore, pretty much most of Asia.

Although it seems odd, there are some similarities between my previous career and current role. Both lines of work are customer facing and customer service is a big thing for me. You have to get to know your customers and have some banter with them. It makes the job so much easier when the customer sees a friendly face and can have a chat with you. For me it cheers me up and makes the job so much easier”.

For Neil, how the day starts sets the tone for the rest of the day. First thing in the morning on the D-tox yard, he loves to dance around being bright and bubbly.

“I think sometimes it gets on people’s nerves because I get told to shut up, but I can’t help it. I’m a glass half full kind of person.”

When talking about his pet hates Neil says he is a bit of a neat freak, and likes to keep things clean and tidy, taking pride in his vehicle. “After all, he said, I have to eat my lunch in my truck so it makes sense to look after it well”.

When he's not out on the road for D-tox or planning his next far flung visit abroad, Neil loves to walk his pet Pug Narla in the open countryside. This is a fair change from his day job negotiating the roads and highways of the greater Midlands area. Neil admits that after his previous life as a travel agent he would never seen himself as a 3.5 tonne service driver.

“The job at D-tox was mentioned to me by my friend’s aunt who also works for D-tox and thought I'd try it out. I wasn’t sure if it would be the right job for me, but here I am  a year later, and I’m still enjoying myself”.

Thanks for doing such a great job Neil.
